Residents were transported to the British coast during our latest Armchair Travel session, themed “Beside the Seaside.” The room was beautifully decorated with traditional seaside touches, including shells, vintage postcards, and colourful windmill toys, creating a charming atmosphere that sparked fond memories.
Residents enjoyed the traditional treat of lemon top ice cream, a seaside favourite that brought smiles all around. To add to the experience, everyone joined in a cheerful singalong of classic seaside songs, including the much loved “I do like to be beside the seaside” & “We’re all going on a summer holiday” – filling the room with music and laughter.
The afternoon continued with a screening of ‘1957: The Big Gamble – A Trip to the UK Seaside’ The evocative documentary from the Eye to Eye series followed determined British holidaymakers who took the “big gamble” of spending their hard-earned savings on a coastal getaway despite the looming threat of unpredictable weather.
As the film played, residents shared fond memories of their own seaside holidays, recalling trips to places like Blackpool, Scarborough, Saltburn and many more!
