Four-legged friends take centre stage at Middleton Hall Dog Show

Residents, families, visitors and their four-legged friends gathered at Middleton Hall Retirement Village for the annual Dog Show 2026, with entrants competing in a range of categories throughout the day.

The event featured light-hearted competitions including Best Trick and Dog We’d Most Like to Take Home, giving dogs and their owners the chance to show off their personalities and skills.

Judging the competition was a panel made up of Deborah Laing, Ward Councillor, Shalona Beaumont, owner of MJ’s Cake Café, and Thea, daughter of Middleton Hall’s Managing Director Designate, who had the difficult task of selecting winners across the various classes.

The day also raised valuable funds for Wag & Co, the North East friendship dog charity. Alongside fundraising, the event helped shine a spotlight on the charity’s work and attracted interest from potential new volunteers.

A spokesperson from Wag & Co said: “Our team had a lovely day. Not only were you supporting our cause with some of the funds raised, but you were also helping us to recruit new volunteers. One person applied and had his dog assessed before the day was out – a record! Thank you so much, here’s to next year!”

Residents, relatives, guests and local supporters turned out to enjoy the competition classes and learn more about the work of Wag & Co. Middleton Hall would like to thank everyone who attended, entered their dogs or supported the event, helping to make it another successful fundraiser.
