Middleton Hall Co-owner going the distance for Dementia UK in the Great North Run

A dedicated Support Worker from Middleton Oaks, part of Middleton Hall Retirement Village, is once again preparing to take on the Great North Run, this time in support of Dementia UK.

Nicole, who has worked closely with people affected by dementia in Middleton Hall’s small group living service, Middleton Oaks, for nearly eight years, is returning to the iconic half marathon after successfully completing the event last year.

“I’m running for Dementia UK because I’ve worked with people affected by dementia for almost eight years,” she said. “I’ve seen first-hand how devastating the condition can be, not just for the person diagnosed, but for their family and loved ones. This run is my way of honouring them and helping others going through the same journey.”

Dementia UK provides expert support through its Admiral Nurses, who offer life-changing care to families living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Their work helps individuals maintain their independence while guiding caregivers through difficult and emotional times.

In the lead-up to the run, Nicole has been training consistently, motivated by the experiences of the people she has supported over the years.
