Middleton Hall commemorates VE Day with creativity, reflection and celebration

In the lead-up to the event, members of our popular Needlecraft Club had been busy creating beautiful handmade tributes to mark the occasion. Their thoughtful work added a personal and creative touch to our VE Day.

On the day, we were honoured to welcome members of the Royal British Legion Shildon branch, who led a poignant VE Day service for our residents. The ceremony offered a moment of reflection and remembrance, allowing residents to pay their respects and share their own memories of wartime Britain.

To bring the day to a fitting close, everyone gathered for a traditional street party in our Restaurant. The Village was decked out in Union Jack flags, and the sound of classic wartime tunes filled the air as residents enjoyed tea, cake, and the chance to socialise and reminisce. The atmosphere was joyful, with music, laughter, and a real sense of community spirit.
