Middleton Hall joins Stockton & Darlington Railway 200 celebrations

Middleton Hall Retirement Village was proud to take part in the recent S&DR200 Celebrations Week in Middleton St George, marking 200 years of railway history.

The week began with a well-attended talk on Tuesday 17th June by Middleton Woods resident/vice chair of the friends of the Stockton & Darlington railway Alan Townsend, who shared expert insights into the railway’s local impact.

Over the weekend of 21st–22nd June, visitors enjoyed a popular railway-themed exhibition featuring historical memorabilia, ceramics, photographs, and a working diorama of the former Fighting Cocks Station, organised by Waterside resident David Gaskell.

The events were part of a wider celebration of the area’s rich railway heritage, and Middleton Hall was pleased to welcome residents, guests, and members of the local community.
