125th anniversary: A little history…. and a lot of evolution – the story of Middleton Hall

The elegant surroundings of Middleton Hall’s restaurant provided the backdrop for an illustrated talk by Non Executive Director, Jeremy Walford, outlining the fascinating history of Middleton Hall.

An enthusiastic audience learned more about the progression from the founding of the existing business in 1900, as an enlightened alternative to the notorious Victorian asylums of the time, to the creation of the unique retirement village of today.

The presentation also took the story even further back, telling the tale of the building’s origins and a link with the founder of the railways, George Stephenson.

A series of images of the Hall’s Georgian entrance expertly embroidered by residents was also on display beside the Restaurant.
