Burns Night 2026 brings tradition and community together at Middleton Hall

Middleton Hall Retirement Village celebrated Burns Night 2026 in true Scottish style, with residents and guests from across the village coming together for an evening of tradition, music and community spirit.

Preparations for the event began ahead of the celebrations, as care residents joined wellbeing co-ordinators to craft handmade table decorations. Using natural materials gathered from around Middleton Hall’s 45-acre estate, the creative session not only produced beautiful décor but also offered residents a chance to socialise and take pride in contributing to the evening’s atmosphere.

On the night itself, guests were welcomed by the unmistakable sound of the bagpipes, played by returning piper Cameron, setting the tone for a memorable celebration. The ceremonial Address to a Haggis was led by a couple from Middleton Hall’s Waterside bungalows, adding a personal and meaningful touch to the proceedings.

The menu featured a selection of classic Scottish dishes, with traditional favourites such as Cullen skink, haggis with neeps and tatties, and cranachan enjoyed by residents and guests alike.

Burns Night continues to be a much-loved event in the Middleton Hall calendar, offering an opportunity to celebrate heritage while bringing residents from across the village together for a memorable evening.
