Middleton Hall Retirement Village celebrates quadruple Care Home Awards shortlisting

Middleton Hall Retirement Village has been shortlisted in four categories at the prestigious national 2026 Care Home Awards, which recognise innovation and excellence in the residential care sector.

The retirement community is a finalist for Best for Wellbeing, Best for Nutrition, Food and Dining, Best for Architecture or Interior Design and Best Retirement Living Village or Development with Care Provision, showcasing its innovative approach to care, dining, design and integrated retirement living.

Now in their tenth year, the Care Home Awards are widely regarded as national benchmarks for quality across the sector.

For the Best Retirement Living Village or Development with Care Provision category, Middleton Hall Retirement Village’s entry focused on its integrated retirement living model. The community combines independently owned properties with Care Quality Commission-registered residential care services, alongside landscaped grounds, extensive facilities, restaurant-quality dining and a proactive wellbeing programme.

Recent investment has included upgrades to the Orangery Bistro, Middleton Grove supported apartments and expanded wellbeing provision. Employee-owned since 2019, the organisation is shaped by its co-owners, helping to ensure services and support continue to reflect residents’ needs and priorities.

The Best for Architecture or Interior Design submission highlighted the refurbishment of Middleton Grove, a supported independent living scheme within the Grade II listed Middleton Hall building, repurposed by a team of Middleton Hall’s co-owners to create contemporary, flexible apartments tailored to residents’ needs.

In the Best for Nutrition, Food and Dining entry the transformation of the dining experience for residents was showcased, which delivers seasonal, restaurant-quality meals and improved nutritional outcomes following resident consultation and investment in professional kitchens.

Finally the Best for Wellbeing category highlighted the village’s 96 hours of weekly activities provided for residents, its dedicated Health & Wellbeing Centre and innovative, preventative programmes that help residents stay active and engaged.

Colin Inglis, Middleton Hall Retirement Village’s Care Director, said: “To be recognised in these prestigious national awards means a great deal to everyone here. It is a great endorsement of the high standards we work hard to maintain and continuously enhance, and it reflects the professionalism, compassion and personalised support our teams provide to residents every day.

“We are committed to understanding each individual, their preferences, aspirations and needs, so that they can continue to live fulfilling lives with dignity, independence and the right level of care. Recognition by the Care Home Awards highlights the dedication of our colleagues and the positive difference they make to residents and families.”

Adam Wardale, Operations Director, added: “We are incredibly proud to achieve finalist places in four categories. It demonstrates the passion and expertise of the co-owner teams in our employee owned business, and our shared commitment to creating a community where people can enjoy later life with independence, dignity and social connection.

“Our focus has always been on quality of life, from providing an inspiring environment to live in and exceptional dining to proactive wellbeing and care when it’s needed, and this recognition is a wonderful validation of that approach.”

Winners will be announced on Friday 15 May at the National Conference Centre in the West Midlands.
