Mental health awareness training event held for managers

Managers from across Middleton Hall Retirement Village recently attended a mental health workshop to enhance their learning, awareness and further understanding of wellbeing in the workplace.

The event, ‘Engaging managers to have effective mental health conversations’, was part of Middleton Hall’s new partnership with Talk Works, an organisation that helps businesses manage wellbeing.

Aimed at supporting the wellbeing of those who attended, as well as the teams they manage, the session covered a wide range of practical information, advice and accessible strategies to help support and manage positive mental health at work.

Middleton Hall Retirement Village’s People Manager, Jill Milner, said: “The feedback so far from people who attended has been really positive and everyone seemed to take something away from what was a very informative session.”

She added: “Promoting positive mental health and self-care is a vital aspect of the support we provide for Co-owners and is a central part of our wellbeing strategy.”

To supplement the content covered in the session, managers have also been offered the opportunity to enrol on a Talk Works digital wellbeing course. Covering topics including awareness of stress, depression and anxiety, the course offers advice on managing conversations about mental health in the workplace as well as tips for managing your own mental health.

Jill added: “This is another service we’ve invested in to support wellbeing across Middleton Hall to enhance learning, awareness and further understanding of these subject areas, which in turn can support the wellbeing of everyone who works at Middleton Hall.”

Any Co-owner who wishes to discuss any of the issues mentioned is encouraged to approach their manager or the People Team for a confidential chat.
