Another successful Wine and Cheese Quiz night

Independent residents from Middleton Hall Retirement Village enjoyed a Wine and Cheese Quiz Night hosted in The Orangery. Three wines, supplied by Yorkshire Vintners, were paired with three cheeses carefully selected by Middleton Hall’s Hospitality Manager Clare Robson.

Guests enjoyed the Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar, which is matured 200 feet underground in the Wookey Hole Caves in the West Country, The Wensleydale Blue, a more local cheese made in Hawes in North Yorkshire, and the French Style Cenarth Brie from Carmarthenshire.

The quiz contained thirty questions all to do with wine including, “Which city leads the world in wine consumption per capita?” and “Which renowned scientist discovered that yeast causes fermentation?”. The winning team were awarded a quiz trophy as well as a bottle of wine each.

Mrs Barbara Crompton, a Waterside resident, attended the event alongside her husband and commented: “My husband and I found it a very enjoyable evening spent with friends.”

Here is a selection of photos taken during the event.
