National Garden Scheme open day a great success

The Middleton Hall gardens looked glorious and the weather was perfect for a day spent looking round our estate at this year’s National Garden Scheme Open Day on Saturday 23 July.

Thanks to the sterling efforts of our Estates team, who dedicated weeks of careful preparation ahead of the event, and a fabulous team of residents who generously volunteered to support the event, we were able to showcase our award-winning grounds to over a hundred visitors who came along to support the annual fund-raising event for NGS charities.

Some galleries of photos taken on the day are below.

In addition to looking round the estate, visitors enjoyed a range of activities including a Sri Lankan cookery demonstration by Middleton Hall Head Chef Ian de Hoedt, craft stalls and a performance by a Northumbrian piper as well as enjoying tea and home-made cakes from our kitchen.

Visitors were greeted by plenty of colour, plant life and nature throughout the the estate.

Informal tours led by our resident botanist, Christine Wright from Middleton Woods, and the Estates team were very popular.

The allotments were a popular destination.

Visitors were also able to enjoy an impressive display of crafts by talented residents.

The day was full of smiling faces.
