Dementia Action Week Roundup

Dementia Action Week is a significant event aimed at raising awareness and understanding about dementia, while promoting a more inclusive and supportive society for those living with the condition.

Organised by the Alzheimer’s Society it’s a week filled with various activities and initiatives that aim to educate, inspire, and engage people in making a positive difference in the lives of individuals with dementia.

Here are some highlights of the activities organised by Co-owners at Middleton Hall Retirement Village during Dementia Action Week:

🏞️ Nature Walks and Outdoor Activities: Nature has a soothing effect on the mind, and our walk encouraged residents, their families/friends, Co-owners (and even four legged friends!) to connect with nature, relax, have great social interaction and promote an overall sense of joy and well-being. The turnout was great and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces!

📚 Dementia Education Sessions: These sessions aimed to reduce stigma, increase empathy, and equip individuals with practical tools to support people with dementia.

Dementia Action Week served as a reminder that small actions can have a big impact in supporting individuals with dementia and their families. By participating in these activities and spreading awareness, we can contribute to building a society that is inclusive, understanding, and supportive for everyone affected by dementia.
