Yoga class to launch in the New Year

An established Teesside-based yoga teacher is introducing a new weekly yoga class to Middleton Hall Retirement Village in January.

Starting on Monday 8th January 2024 Tracy McPhail of Flow and Flourish yoga will be running her Vinyasa Flow class in the Middleton Hall Vision Room every Monday from 5.30 to 6.30pm.

The class is a mat-based session where yoga poses are linked together with the breath in a flowing sequence. Aimed at improving strength and flexibility, Tracy’s classes are also designed to provide a great workout for the body, mind and emotions.

She explained that the classes are suitable for beginners as well as those with more experience adding: “I gently guide my clients in their physical practice, making any necessary modifications and the classes also include breathwork and some meditation.”

Tracy is accredited by Yoga Alliance having completed a 250 hour Yoga Teacher Training course with Abode Yoga in 2022, specialising in Ayurvedic Yoga and the Healing Arts.

A primary school teacher for over 35 years, Tracy now teaches yoga at a range of venues across Teesside. “I started yoga over ten years ago as a hobby and a way of keeping fit and flexible and achieving a good work life balance,” she added.

“When I was working in schools I taught mindfulness to the children and it was this, combined with how much I enjoyed yoga and the benefits it gave me, that led to me deciding to retrain as a yoga specialist.

“It’s really satisfying to be now supporting others to get the same enjoyment from yoga as I do.”

Tracy’s Flow and Flourish yoga sessions are usually taught in blocks of six weeks. Due to the January start date, the first block at Middleton Hall Retirement Village will be five weeks long. The block runs from Monday 8 January until Monday 5 February 2024 (inclusive) and costs £32, which includes a free first session, and there are 12 spaces available. The only equipment needed is a mat and a blanket.
